Why a seasonal shop?

Madame Truffles loves Australian truffles. For 3 months every year she enjoys them whenever she can.  Truffled scrambled eggs for breakfast, truffle & mushrooms on toast for lunch and shaved truffles on pasta for dinner, and much more besides.

Madame Truffles was surprised to find that others weren’t enjoying this delicacy like she was. After all, one little truffle goes a long way she thought. Given Australian truffles were being enjoyed by people around the world, they seemed somewhat inaccessible or peculiar to people in Australia.

And so her little seasonal shop was born. Designed to make it as easy as possible for people to learn about and enjoy the wonderful truffles from their own backyard. Well, not literally of course, but from truffieres in WA, Tasmania, NSW and beyond. All of them with their own distinctive aromas and tastes. So with her fine truffles and lovely recipes to boot, she hoped more and more people would enjoy the wonderful little truffles she loves so much.

Madame’s very special friends

Madame Truffles has been lucky to work with an amazing group of people.

Her first group of friends are the truffieres who harvest the truffles. And the dogs who find them.

Her friend Ian Perkins has been a wonderful help in creating all the Madame Truffle designs.

Her friend Salvatore Malatesta who has been ever so generous in giving Madame space to sell her truffles.

Her friends Leila Sanderson and Greg Hatton have brought their amazing love of art and design to making her shop look lovely.

Her friend Katie Marx who has filled the store with beautiful flowers.

Her friend Nev who has designed her little website.

And finally, Colin McCrudden whose love of fine food inspired this little project.  We miss you dearly.
